Glen Novinger's Images of Dubai 1965
Glen Novinger was born in Missouri, USA. Glen and his family relocated to Dubai on August 15, 1965 to work for The First National City Bank of New York, now Citibank.
Glen recalls there were only 12 western style homes in Dubai.
All 12 homes were located on Jumeirah Beach, 1.5 miles south of center of Dubai.
The First National City Bank of New York rented three of the homes, one of which was for Glen and his family.
Being on Jumeirah Beach, Glen organised camel rides along the beach for his children' birthday parties.
Glen remembers only 85 non Arab families lived in Dubai back then.
Glen's hobby is photography
Glen took photographs of Dubai and also surrounding areas of Dubai when he travelled inland.
Photography in 1965 Dubai will not have been an easy hobby to follow. No doubt that meant either processing your own images or sending precious images overseas for processing.
Images on this web page were purchased from Glen's website in 2016.
Overtime, these images had lost their colour and accumulated dirt and marks.
I have tried to restore the images to some degree.
